Using PW Command with Cityworks, PSD Citywide, MESH or ArcGIS

Can PW Command be used alongside an existing municipal work-order or asset system?

Yes. PW Command can take open work from an existing municipal platform — including Cityworks, PSD Citywide, MESH or ArcGIS — through an integration or a CSV export, leaving that platform as the official system of record. It can equally operate on its own, creating and managing work orders directly.

What we do not claim

  • No partnership, endorsement or affiliation with Cityworks, PSD Citywide, MESH, Esri or ArcGIS is claimed or implied. Those names are the trademarks of their respective owners and are used here only to describe compatibility.
  • We do not claim PW Command replicates every feature of any of those platforms.
  • We do not publish comparative superiority claims. Different products are built around different jobs.

Questions worth asking when systems coexist

  • Which system is the official record for a completed job, and who maintains that rule?
  • How does completion information get back to the system of record?
  • Who owns segment and asset identifiers, so both systems refer to the same road?
  • What is the fallback when an integration is unavailable during an event?
  • Which system holds the evidence — photos, patrols, approvals — for a claim years later?

How the handoff actually works

  1. 1.Open work is brought in through an integration or a scheduled CSV export.
  2. 2.PW Command groups it by area, priority and deadline and proposes crews.
  3. 3.The supervisor approves the plan; the approval is recorded.
  4. 4.Crews work from the approved plan and document completion in the field.
  5. 5.Completion information is returned to the system of record.
